Front Porch Restoration

July 18, 2011

Gerety Building and Restoration has recently completed a porch restoration from a home that we have been restoring in Westchester, NY. The front porch was completely reconstructed using Aeratis Traditions PVC porch flooring. The flooring was selected because of its traditional historical design and durability. The Aeratis flooring is resistant to termites and mold and it is paint ready. Synthetic Trademark Reserve wood was also used for the railing.

Composite Decking

June 29, 2011

Here is a completed exterior deck that was built with composite exterior flooring. Composite exterior decks offers many benefits compared to traditional wood decks. Here are some of the features of composite flooring:

  • Beautiful solid and tropic hardwood colors and grains.
  • Protective coating for stain and fade resistance.
  • Easy to clean surfaces resist mold.
  • Cooler deck surfaces made of lightweight PVC.
  • Class A flame spread rating.

This composite material can also be used for railing and fencing for the same long lasting, easy maintenance, as the exterior decks. View our complete deck design and construction portfolio here.

June 20, 2011

Exterior Decks can be a pleasant extension of a home and in many ways have become necessity in resell value. It is an excellent place to spend your time, entertain guests or just relax with friends and family.

Recently we completed the construction of an Ipé Wood Exterior Deck for a home in Pound Ridge, NY (Westchester, NY).

Ipé wood is an excellent material for building exterior decks. The US Department of Agriculture and Forestry rates Ipé as “Very resistant to attack by decay, fungi and termites.” Ipé is also given a Class A fire rating (under the UBC-uniform building code), the same rating given to concrete & steel.
