Katonah, NY (August 25, 2014) – Gerety Building and Restoration recently celebrated the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester’s 75th anniversary with a painting and pizza party for summer campers.
“It is important to recognize the great work the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Westchester has been doing for all these years,” said Gerety Building and Restoration president Keith Gerety. “Supporting local youth is an investment we strongly believe in, so we were eager to help out.”
Pelham-based A.G. Williams Painting Company was also a sponsor and Grand Prix New York in Mount Kisco hosted the event.
A group of 22 campers between the ages of eight and nine painted aprons, tiles and planting pots at GPNY’S Art Garage, a visual arts studio for children. The colorful aprons and tiles reflected the kids’ congratulatory messages to the Boys & Girls Club on reaching its milestone year.
Once their artwork was complete, the kids played games at the Arcade and dined on homemade pizza from GPNY’s kitchen.
Soon after the event, GPNY delivered the tiles and pots and the campers gathered together to plant oregano and basil for their garden.
“This was a wonderful summer experience for our campers. The children loved exploring art and gardening,” said Barbara Cutri, director of operations, Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester. “The Club is so appreciative of this opportunity and we look forward to more fun activities like this in the future.”
Deputy County Executive, Kevin Plunkett presented a proclamation from County Executive Rob Astorino to honor the occasion. Other local dignitaries at the celebration included David Buchwald, NY State Assemblyman, District 93; Peter Harckham, County Legislator and Chairman of the County Board of Legislators; and Chris Burdick, Bedford Town Supervisor.
“We wanted a way to say thank you to the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester for all their years of service,” said GPNY vice president of Sales and Marketing Nat Mundy. “Supporting local youth and children’s charities are an essential part of our mission, so it was a natural fit to have the kids come on over and have a blast.”
